Van de Voorde Furniture Industry Takes the Next Step in the Energy Transition
A leading furniture manufacturer in Hulst has recently become fully energy-neutral. With 3,000 solar panels and its own wood-fired power plant, sustainably generated energy is now being utilized even more efficiently thanks to battery storage.
Five batteries, each with a capacity of 215 kWh, have been installed on the site. This ensures the company is prepared for the future and already benefits today from energy markets such as EPEX and the imbalance market.
“In the long run, we expect the government to encourage storage through policy or regulations. By then, we’ll already be ready.”
These are the results so far
- Structural reduction of grid load through peak shaving
- Active energy trading on the imbalance market and EPEX
- A smart combination of solar energy and storage for maximum efficiency
