From Battery Container to Integrated Energy System

Boltainer was founded in 2018 by Orlando de Jonge based on the belief that the energy transition can only succeed if companies gain more control over their energy.

Orlando has a commercial and entrepreneurial background in innovative technology companies. At Boltainer, he was closely involved in, among other things, PV-E Crane, a manufacturer of all-electric cranes. That experience with electrification laid the foundation for Boltainer: developing practical technology that enables companies to truly make the transition to electric and sustainable operations.

In 2022, Kevin Dankers joined the team. With his engineering background from Delft University of Technology and experience at Eneco Energy Trade, where he worked on algorithms for energy trading, he strengthened the organization’s technological capabilities.

Since then, Kevin has been one of the driving forces behind the development of our software and the Energy Management System.

Hardware and software as a single entity

Our battery and charging solutions are developed through co-design with specialized technology partners. We combine this hardware with our own Dutch software and our proprietary Energy Management System (EMS).

The EMS connects and optimizes battery storage, charging infrastructure, solar energy, and the grid connection. This enables businesses to make smarter use of available grid capacity, limit energy peaks, optimize the use of locally generated energy, and facilitate further electrification.

That is why we do not simply supply a battery or a charging station, but rather a comprehensive energy system in which hardware and software work together seamlessly.

What exactly does Boltainer do?

Is Boltainer just a hardware supplier?

No. In addition to robust batteries, we also provide smart software through Bbolt. BoltOS manages the battery itself, while the EMS, via the BBox, handles energy distribution, optimization, and trading. Together, they transform every battery into an intelligent energy system that is always deployed strategically.

Who is Boltainer intended for?

Our solutions are designed for businesses with high energy demands or their own energy generation. These include the industrial, logistics, agricultural, retail, and solar park sectors. We also collaborate with partners such as installers and suppliers.
